Each year a panel of ag industry experts recognize achievement in environmental stewardship, professional excellence and community involvement by farm supply retailers. The 29 state winners of the 2013 Environmental Respect Awards included CHS Agri Service Center, Holdrege, Neb
This is the third time CHS Agri Service Center has been honored with the award. General Manager Pat Peterson credits employees’ continuous commitment. “We want to stand out in the community as leaders,” he says. “To make that happen, you have to work at it every single day.”
These businesses were honored based on excellence in site design, in-plant storage and handling procedures, and proper application, as well as leadership in safety and stewardship.
The Environmental Respect Awards are sponsored by DuPont Crop Protection and conducted by CropLife Media Group and Farm Chemicals International. They are considered the agricultural industry’s highest recognition for environmental stewardship among U.S. ag retailers serving farmers and ranchers with critical nutrients, pest control and agronomic information and services.
Daytime grain trading hours are 8:30 am to 1:15 pm.
Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, said Tuesday he doesn't think the farm
bill will change much on the Senate floor despite several proposals on crop
insurance. He and other senators outside of the Southeast are also openly
complaining about the new provisions in the farm bill that create higher target
prices for crops, particularly for rice and peanut growers.
